Fabulous decor

4/5

We visited Venice in June and stayed in Dei Dogi. We loved the Venitian themes throughout the venue. Including the decor in the hallways, which were full of fabulous paintings and romantic gardens. We ate in the restaurant which served Venician dishes, this made a change from the restaurants near St Mark's which serve more fast and untraditional food. Our room had a view over the canal and was of high quality. Being a 30 min walk from the main square, the hotel is tranquil and less commercialised. We found the free water taxi service very useful, though the walk to St Mark's is very enjoyable. We found the staff friendly. The only aspect I would change would be the breakfast, you don't go to Vernice for a cooked breakfast! I was hoping for a more traditionally continental breakfast.

Average considering price

3/5

Overall, my partner and I liked the hotel, which seemed to be family run. However, we felt that the staff could have been more oblidging as they were not quick to answer requests. The hotel is in places in need of refurbishment, which is a shame for a luxury hotel, although much of it is pleasing. The art work that lines the walls are impressive and we loved the elegant chandeliers too. Our room was clean and comfortable and breakfast was adequate. We liked the fact that the hotel has a garden and is in a quiet location. We found eating in to be pricey, but of good quality.
