ca amadi is housed in an ancient xiii century palace,recently restored to guarantee its guests every form ofcomfort. home to marco polo during the venetian maritimerepublic, and later to count palatino francesco amadi, caamadi is steeped in a history and charm in which you canstill wholly perceive the atmosphere of 18 century venice.the vast lounge is lit by the light filtering through thetrifora on the stone balcony which overlooks the fontegodei tedeschi, a typical venetian canal. everything in thissophisticated venetian inn has been attended to in thesmallest detail from furniture in 18th century style tothe high quality furniture fabrics. the old, perfectlypreserved wooden ceiling and the wall frescoes in thelounge were produced around the 1400s in honor of theaustrian emperor frederick iii who loved to stay at caamadi during the summer, together with his wife, leonora.in the lounge, where a sumptuous breakfast is served everymorning, you can admire original venetian floors, ceilingspainted and decorated with very unusual exposed beams,lamps and sconces in murano glass.

We had difficulty locating this hotel, but when we did we were not disappointed! The rooms are beautifully and tastefully decorated in Vencian style and the wooden beams throughout the hotel have been preserved. Overall, great value for a hotel of this standard in such a convenient location (minutes walk from main sights like Rialto bridge and Doge's Palace).

Nice hotel but basic breakfast

Having stayed here for five nights my fiance and I loved the room which was big, spotless and wonderfully decorated. We also found the location brilliant for St Mark's Square. But unfortunately for the price we paid, we were disappointed by the very basic breakfast, though continental style, there was little choice and no cheeses or meats.
