the casa santa maria formosais situated in thehistorical centre of venice, in one of the mostprestigious areas of the city, with the easyaccess to all public transport, it is very nearto st. marks square and only a few steps fromthe rialto bridge. the locanda is placed in anancient palace, the seventeenth century home of anoble venetian family from which, after a skilfuland careful restoration, nine rooms have beenobtained each one finely furnished with epochfurniture. while still retaining the magicalatmosphere of seventeenth century venice, themost advanced technology has been used to improvethe guests stay. all the rooms of the locanda, protected by a magnetic key card, are suppliedwith air conditioning, satellite tv, direct linetelephone, safe, fridge bar and hairdryer. in themorning the locanda will be happy to serve arich buffet style continental breakfast.

As a group of girl friends visiting Venice we had two rooms here, one a family room! One of the rooms had great views of the waterway. We were very pleased with the hotel. The decor is very romantic and the rooms had air conditioning and baths. They were reguarly cleaned and towels changed. The continental breakfast was yummy and the staff accomodating. Very central location meant we could do everything we wanted easily, and there is a water bus stop close by.

A little dissapointed

After reading fabulous reviews and booking this hotel, we were a little dissapointed. Our room was dark and being on the top floor, we had to climb steep stairs because there is no lift. Our room was very small, with over the top decorations. Most disappointing was the breakfast which had little choice. More positively, the location did not disappoint, close to St Mark's yet in a quiet area.

I booked this hotel for my partner and I after much research! We were very pleased that I did. We had an excellent, clean and spacious room with an amazing Canal view out of both windows. We could watch the gondolas from our room! I did ask for a room with a view when I booked via the hotel, so that I would recommend. There was a beautiful square outside the hotel full of unique italian cafes. The hotel is close to San Marco, yet in a more authentic Venice area tucked down a quaint alley by a canal. We knew we were in Venice! Staff were lovely and breakfast was satisfying. Would definately return because we felt we got very good value for money too.
